U F O ' s

UFO Workshops are regularly-scheduled opportunities for you as NWQ members to come together and work on your own UFOs in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Basic quilting lessons taught by members to members, Saturday Academy, is held at the same time and place as UFO. No Saturday Academy is scheduled in July and August.

Why sew alone when you could join other quilters working on their projects, too? Not only can you get a lot done (no interruptions like you have at home!) but you can see what everyone else is up to and even get help if you get stuck. Conversation goes from catching up with TV shows to upcoming quilting events. Irons, tables, coffee and tea will be provided -- just bring your project and sewing machine (if needed).

Refreshments to share are welcome. Lunch options include brown bagging it (refrigerator and microwave on site) or going to Subway or New Seasons or other restaurants, all within easy walking distance.

A $4.00 fee is required each time you attend UFO and/or Saturday Academy. The once per Saturday $4.00 fee is required for UFO/Saturday Academy and use of the space by other groups.

If your Small Quilt Group would like to reserve space from 1:00-3:00 "ONLY", please make all arrangements with Janice Jones for a required reservation. The $4.00 fee is required for each person who attends. It is the responsibility of the person reserving the space to notify and collect these fees.

NWQ Saturday Academy
for beginning quilters

We will be having monthly basic quilting lessons this year, offered at the same time and in the same location as our regular Saturday UFO Workshops. (UFO Workshops will continue; we will just maximize our use of the UFO facility on the same schedule.) These classes are open to a limited number of NWQ members on a pre-registration basis and will cover different, defined topics each month. We will be utilizing the expertise of our members to assist other members in these free classes.

No Saturday Academy is scheduled in July and August.

To pre-register - and you must pre-register - contact Janice Jones Her telephone number is in the Roster and Patchword.

There will be a class instruction sheet mailed to registrants and a minimal amount of preparation required before the day of the class.

UFO Workshops are held at Sellwood United Methodist Church, on the corner of SE 15th and Tacoma Streets, from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. The Saturday Academy instruction will begin about 9:30 and be complete about noon. During the afternoon, class members are encouraged to continue sewing on their class project, with the teacher (and other members) available for consultation, and to enjoy the camaraderie of the UFO.
