The theme for the Guild Challenge for 2006 is "Show Off Oregon". There is a special fabric which must be included. This year the top 8 pieces chosen by our guild members will be entered in the Ultimate Guild Challenge at the AQS Quilt Exposition at Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee.
Kits including the material and all rules will be available to members starting at the September 12th meeting. The entrance fee is $3. Extra challenge fabric (fat quarters) can be purchased for $2.
The winning pieces will also be considered for the Best Wall Quilt Award which would pay $3,000. Get your creative juices flowing for this wonderful opportunity.

Excerpts from the new Ouilting Challenge magazine, Premier Issue for 2006:
"How Judging Works -- Here are commonly held standards that judges use:
General Appearance --
An overall positive visual statement; clean and 'ready to show'; edges which are not distorted.
Design and Composition --
All the individual design elements -- top, quilting, choice of fabric, colors, sashes, borders, embellishments, finishing are unified.
Workmanship --
Precise piecing, seams, applique, curves, shadowing, threads, even stitches, top and bottom, and even tension, particularly when done by machine."
