Build-a-Block
Men, women, and children design blocks at NWQ’s annual quilt show. Guild members sew the blocks, which are then used in twin quilts for children and lap quilts for the elderly in care facilities. Since 2000, hundreds of these Build-A-Block quilts have been made and donated. These are truly a community effort as so many people have a hand in making each of these unique quilts.
Toy & Joy
NWQ donated 1,759 doll and infant quilts to the Portland Firefighters Toy & Joy program in calendar year 2022. We are continuing to collect quilts for donation during the holiday season this year. Your little quilts can be dropped off at our guild’s general meetings each month, or at the Mill End Store on Comforting Quilts workdays.
Jellybean Factory Workshop
The Jellybean Factory we held on November 13th, 2023 was a very sociable and productive meeting attended by more than 80 guild members. More than 30 lap quilts were started, 2 twin quilts were tied, a dozen quilts' bindings were finished, and several lap backs were made. We thank everyone who participated and look forward to our next Jellybean Factory which will be on November 10th, 2025. Details will be published in the Patchword and on this website.
